AIDS Walk Los Angeles would not be possible without the help of our wonderful volunteers. Whether you’d like to start right away, or would like to help with the weekend of the event, we have opportunities for all ages and groups.
 
Day-Of-Event Volunteer Opportunities

We need nearly 1,000 volunteers on Sunday, October 21 to ensure a safe and fun day for all at AIDS Walk Los Angeles! You can help us greet participants, tally donations, cheer on walkers, and so much more.

VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTIONS

CHECKPOINT 4 
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, October 21, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
No Orientation

Checkpoint 4 Volunteers help set up, manage, and clean-up Checkpoint 4 at the start and finish line. They also distribute snacks and beverages and help direct walkers to services such as restrooms and first aid. All ages are welcome! This volunteer position is great for families and groups. Checkpoint 4 Volunteers do not have an orientation. 

DELINEATORS
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, October 21, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
No orientation 

Help us assemble and “delineate” the AIDS Walk Los Angeles route before the Walk starts and break down the route once walkers have completed AIDS Walk Los Angeles. Delineator Volunteers must be comfortable with physical activity and lifting. Be prepared to get a little dirty! Delineator Volunteers do not have an orientation.

FINISH LINE HOOPLAH    
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, October 21, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
No Orientation

Be the first to welcome back the walkers! Help us celebrate at the finish line by handing out Seals of Completion and cheering as the walkers return from the route. Then stick around to help us make sure the venue is spotless and beautiful. Finish Line Hooplah Volunteers do not have an orientation.
 
ROUTE CHECKPOINTS
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, October 21, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Mandatory Orientation:  Saturday, October 14, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. 

Our Checkpoint Volunteers help set up, manage, and clean up our walker checkpoints along the route. They also distribute snacks and beverages and help direct walkers to services such as restrooms and first aid. All ages are welcome! This volunteer position is great for families and groups.

ROUTE MARSHAL  
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, October 21, 6:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
No Orientation

Route Marshal Volunteers get a front-row seat to the Walk, so they're also able to cheer the walkers on and see all of the participants as they go by! Route Marshals direct the flow of participant traffic and help keep walkers safe at key intersections along the route. These volunteers must be outgoing, energetic, and good communicators in order to guide the walkers safely.

SECURITY  
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, October 21, 7:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.
No Orientation

Help with crowd control and security during the AIDS Walk Los Angeles Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Security Volunteers must possess excellent leadership and communication skills.

SIGN-IN
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, October 21, 6:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. 
Mandatory Orientation: Tuesday, October 16, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; OR Saturday, October 20, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. 

Be the first face that participants see on the morning of AIDS Walk Los Angeles! Sign-In Volunteers check in walkers and collect the funds they have raised. These volunteers must be friendly, outgoing, and detail-oriented, and have a valid photo ID. Sign-In Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

TEAMS AND INFORMATION ARMY
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, October 21 from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
No Orientation

This select group of volunteers will not only assist us in setting up our Teams Area but will also help direct 10,000 AIDS Walk participants throughout the venue and answer their questions as part of our “Info Army”! You’ll help us welcome them to the event and provide assistance to help walkers turn in funds and find their Team Meeting Stations as well as other AIDS Walk areas in Grand Park. Teams and Information Army Volunteers will need to quickly learn the venue layout and must be comfortable with physical activity and lifting.
 
TOTALING
AIDS Walk Shift:
Sunday, October 21, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
No Orientation

Help us as we process donations and tally the funds turned in by our participants on the day of AIDS Walk Los Angeles. Totaling Tent Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and have some experience with a 10-key calculator. Totaling Tent Volunteers do not have an orientation. ?

VENUE MARSHAL    
AIDS Walk Shift:
Sunday, October 21 from 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Mandatory Orientation: Saturday, October 20, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. 

Welcome walkers as they enter Grand Park and be part of the excitement at the Start and Finish Lines of AIDS Walk LA! Direct walkers on the venue and guard restricted areas. Energetic and outgoing personalities are a must! Venue Marshal Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

SATURDAY SET-UP
AIDS Walk Shift:
Saturday, October 20, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
No Orientation

We need a lot of help on Saturday, October 20 preparing for the big event! Help set up the Teams Area, assemble the Sign-In Area, and assist with the placement of posters. This volunteer position is great for those who prefer to walk on Sunday, October 21.

PARKING   
AIDS Walk Shift:  Sunday, October 21, 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 
No Orientation 

Help direct walkers and volunteers to the parking areas.

SATURDAY VOLUNTEER LUNCH PREPARATION
AIDS Walk Shift:
Saturday, October 20, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
No Orientation

More than 1,800 volunteers join us at AIDS Walk Los Angeles to help make the event a huge success! Help us prepare their lunches on Saturday, October 14. This position is great for groups or those who prefer to walk on Sunday, October 21.
 
STRIKE CREW
AIDS Walk Shift: Sunday, October 21, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
No Orientation

Help us clean up and break down the event venue after you cross the finish line. This position is great for groups! Strike Crew Volunteers do not have an orientation.
