Thank you for joining our Team!
Our ONE team is not asking people to raise funds, however if you feel compelled to make a small donation to APLA Health, that would be fantastic! Every dollar that we DO raise helps APLA stop new infections and support people living with HIV/AIDS locally here in Los Angeles. ONE does not solicit funds from its members nor are we a fundraising organization. The purpose of this effort for us as a team is to bring people together to take action on the Global Fund and to raise awareness about the Global AIDS pandemic.
ONE is a campaigning and advocacy organization of more than seven million people around the world taking action to end extreme poverty and preventable disease (like HIV/AIDS) particularly in Africa. We believe the fight against poverty isn't about charity, but about justice and equality.
HIV/AIDS is a preventable and treatable disease that disproportionately affects the world's poor. Thanks in part to the advocacy efforts of ONE, 15 million people around the world are receiving lifesaving antiretroviral treatment (ARVs) for HIV/AIDS and 9 million AIDS deaths have been averted since 2000 thanks to ARV treatment.
Programs such as The Global Fund and PEPFAR, have helped save millions of lives and bend the curve of the pandemic. We must finish the job of virtual elimination of mother-to-child transmission, continue to scale up treatment, and deploy smarter prevention strategies. To be effective, these goals cannot be achieved in isolation from one another, or be the sole responsibility of a small number of donor countries. Only when donors, African governments, international organizations and the private sector work together, will path towards the end of AIDS become a reality.
