This, my fourth year to participate in AIDS Walk, seems to be the most important yet.

Over the years, raising funds to fight this epidemic, there have been many compelling reasons to provide support. Whether to honor the many friends who have died or to support those living with the disease or to help fight to end the disease.

This year the fight feels more urgent and personal. There appears to be no compassion, inclusion, nor leadership from this administration regarding support for those living with the disease nor for ending HIV/AIDS altogether.

We are experiencing a lack of civility, restraint, and sound leadership which in the past has given rise to scapegoating based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and immigration status. We know the dark shadow that is cast when rigid ideology prevails over science and medicine.

It seems wrong to let this happen without a response. I hope you agree.

Please consider a donation! Every dollar raised helps APLA stop new infections and support people living with HIV/AIDS.
